I ride a 2001 LS650 Savage and for the most part really enjoy it. Until I did a 4000 mile tightening of all the bolts and screws I never saw any evidence of of an oil leak. I have worked as a maintenance mech and know to tighten down bolts evenly;however, what I am experiancing is oil splattering against the battery cover and the side of the tool cover. I can also see oil collecting on the air cooling fins but I cannot see were the origin of the oil leak. Also, I have noticed that when the engine is warmed up I here the valve tappits. When the engine is cold and the viscosity of the oil is thicker no noise. I change my oil every 1000 miles and it is due for an oil change. I use 20-50 wt. motor oil. What brand of motor oil would you suggest I use? Any suggestions? Also, is it better to adjust the idle for the engine to rev richer or leaner. Finally, the last time I took off the gas tank I don't remember seeing a gas filter. Shouldn't there be one on the export line of fuel line?
